'THE PENGUIN' COMIC-CON ACTIVATION EVACUATED AFTER FIRE BREAKS OUT ON ROOF

A fire broke out on the roof of the same building where the San Diego Comic-Con activation for the HBO series "The Penguin" was in the midst of its press preview.

Members of the media, including reporters from Variety, were escorted outside by officials at roughly 7:30 PM.

The multi-level installation involved an elaborate, immersive experience that put attendees inside the Iceberg Lounge from the 2022 film "The Batman" and the upcoming spin-off "The Penguin."

Multiple actors involved in the activation were also evacuated from the premises, and were congregated outside of the venue by fire and police officials.

At least four fire engines rushed to the scene, in addition to San Diego Police, who cleared the scene.

Representatives for HBO did not immediately respond to request for comment. There did not appear to be any injuries.

This is an ongoing story and will be updated as more information comes in.
