OGIE ALCASID DEFENDS VICE GANDA AMID CRITICISMS

Ogie Alcasid came to the defense of his fellow “It’s Showtime” host Vice Ganda, who has been criticized for his manner of hosting the Kapamilya noontime show.

Alcasid spoke up on Sunday, June 9, through his X (formerly Twitter) page amid the much-talked-about issue of their show’s segment “EXpecially for You.”

The issue arose after the May 31 episode of the segment, in which the show hosts called out a searchee for supposedly attempting to kiss the searcher without consent, earned polarized reactions from netizens.

“This is long overdue. There is a friend I know who comes to work only having the sole intention of making people happy,” Alcasid said.

“This person takes it all—for the team, for the show, and for the Madlang People. This is why I stand for this friend of mine imperfect as she is,” he continued. “Love you, meme [Vice Ganda].”

Coincidentally, Alcasid’s post also came after an X account under the username @AltKamuning expressed dismay over how Vice Ganda treats the singer-songwriter during their banters.

“Walang eme ha. I feel sad for Ogie. I still remember he was one of GMA’s OPM frontrunners. He was also a RESPECTED comedian like Michael V,” the user tweeted.

“Choice naman niya lumipat but I just feel sad na ganyan treatment sa kanya ngayon. Nakapag-retire sana on a high note,” it added.

It was not immediately known, however, if Alcasid’s post was also meant as a response to the netizen’s sentiment.
