MARCOS TELLS INC: BE AN INSTRUMENT OF CHANGE

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday greeted the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) on its 110th founding anniversary, commending it for its "enduring faith, dedication, and positive impact."

In his message, the President urged INC members to continue inspiring their communities, strengthening their faith, and working towards a prosperous future for the Philippines.

"May you continue to be an inspiration not only to your community but to the entire country. Your tireless service and works reflect unity, progress, and a deeper understanding as a people," Marcos said.

"In every act of goodness and concern, may we be instruments of change in our society so that we may realize a new Philippines that is beneficial for everyone," Marcos added.

Also, the President urged INC members to continue strengthening their belief and love of God and fellowmen and to pray for the country's future that is full of hope, prosperity and peace.

"In times of joy and trials, our faith serves as a light on our path and empowers us to continue to strive and dream for a better life," Marcos said.

"It also guides us to becoming a creative, helpful, and valuable member of the community in accordance with God's teachings," he added.

The Church's 110th anniversary celebration has for its theme: "People of God Should Continue to Please Him." This theme also serves as a reminder and a call to action for all members.

INC was founded by Felix Y. Manalo on July 27, 1914 and its first church was established in Punta, Sta. Ana, Manila.

From only a dozen followers when it was founded, the religious group has grown to around 2.25 million followers worldwide.

Known for bloc voting, the group endorsed the candidacy of Marcos and his running mate, now Vice President Sara Duterte, during the May 2022 national elections.

It had also backed Marcos in the 2016 vice-presidential election, which Leni Robredo won.
