NEWFILMMAKERS LA ANNOUNCES NOMINEES AND JURY FOR 12TH ANNUAL AWARDS (EXCLUSIVE)

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles has released the nominees and jury for its 12th annual awards that recognize the top rising talent in independent film across the globe.

This year's awards will honor 130 nominees over 16 categories. NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) is a non-profit organization focused on highlighting the work of independent artists and guiding filmmakers from underrepresented backgrounds. The nominees were screened from projects that screened at NFMLA's monthly film festival season, which ran from Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2023.

The films nominated have been played at festivals including Tribeca, SXSW, Sundance, Cannes and Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

"It is incredibly exciting to enter NFMLA's 17th year as an organization with such a strong lineup of nominees and jurors," Larry Laboe, NFMLA executive director and co-founder. "The talent represented at this year's Best of NFMLA Awards is a real testament to our commitment of showcasing emerging, diverse voices from around the globe. These are definitely artists worth paying close attention to."
