Notably, Lashana Lynch brings a touch of spy flair to her role, having previously starred as the new 007 in No Time To Die, Daniel Craig's swan song as James Bond.

The ensemble cast also shines with recognisable talents such as Ursula Corbero from Money Heist, Game of Thrones alums Charles Dance and Richard Dormer, alongside Eleanor Matsuura from The Walking Dead.

With Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett at the helm of the scriptwriting, the series is set to be a masterclass in tension.

Anticipation is mounting for the November release, as fans are buzzing to find out if this retelling can eclipse the revered original from the '70s.

The trailer launches into action with Eddie's top-tier hitman piecing together a sniper rifle and slipping into various disguises, while Lashana's character, a British intelligence operative, outlines the gravity of their situation.

"Our man works alone," she declares in a voiceover dripping with tension. "An exceptional assassin.

"He never looks the same way twice. I know I can find him."

Wrapping up the intense preview, the Jackal is seen rappelling down a skyscraper as Ursula's character questions: "Who is this man?"

"You know who I am," the Jackal replies, his voice laden with foreboding, just before the title appears on screen.

As a clincher, the trailer offers one last glimpse of the hitman's sharpshooting prowess.

The Day of the Jackal will launch on Peacock in the US and on Sky in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria on Thursday, November 7.
